A death doula helps take the fear out of dying. I offer support and comfort to the dying and their loved ones.
Similar to how a birth doula helps at the beginning of life with the birthing process, a death doula assists with the entire end-of-life journey by providing emotional, spiritual and physical support.
I offer services ranging from how to navigate healthcare providers to understanding end-of-life options (e.g., hospice, palliative care) as well as grief and bereavement support.
Usually I am hired by patients or family members when a terminal diagnosis is given. As a person is nearing the end of their life, I am often invited to sit vigil with the dying person.
Death doulas can help people complete legacy projects such as scrapbooks, art projects or writing letters to those they love.
Before a person is unable to speak and make decisions, I help uncover every detail and wish about what the dying person considers an ideal and peaceful death.
